Taking into account India's growing importance in the present global context, the Republic of Congo decided to open the Consulate aiming to develop a friendly, congenial, trade relations between the two countries. Besides, the Consulate would also work towards strengthening bilateral trade and enhancing the existing business and cultural ties.

The President of Republic of Congo His Excellency Denis Sassou Nguesso has appointed Mr. Rohtas Goel as the Honorary Consul of the first Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Congo or Congo-Brazzaville, which opened in New Delhi in the year 2005.

Since then there has been a constant communication and exchange of bi-lateral ties between the two countries. There are frequent visits by high power delegation from the Republic of Congo including the visit of Her Excellency M. Adelaide Moundele Ngollo, Commerce Minister and His Excellency Mr. Rodolphe Adada, Foreign Minister to India.

The Honorary Consul, Mr. Rohtas Goel, is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Omaxe Construction Limited, one of the fastest growing companies in the real estate sector in India . Mr. Goel is a successful entrepreneur and has contributed extensively in voluntary and community sectors for the last 20 years.
